Hello Bolly. id lovers! It's movie review time.
 
     Our movie for this week is KALKI 2898 AD based partially on Hindu mythology in a dystopian science fiction world. The film features four megastars such as Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Hassan, Deepika Padukone, and Prabhas. 

       The film is about the city COMPLEX, headed by Supreme Yaskin (played by Kamal Hassan). Bhairava (played by Prabhas) wants to go to Complex City to find a job. He uses his girlfriend, Roxie (played by DIsha Patani ) to enter the city. He takes a look around the city but gets kicked after the CCTV shows, him loitering around. 

       In the meantime, inside a laboratory in Complex CIty many women are forcibly held and made to conceive a baby. They are all given a serum to ensure a longer pregnancy but all the women couldn't sustain the fetus for more than one hundred twenty days. Only one woman manages to keep her child for one hundred fifty days. That is SUM- 80 (played by Deepika Padukone) who tries to escape the premises after Yaskin's men try to 'extract' the serum from her fetus. A friend who is a 'rebel' helps her leave the city. 

     Aswatthama (played by Amitabh Bachchan) wakes up from his solitude after many years. He is immortal and strong. He is getting a notion that he will meet SUM-80, the prophesied mother of Kalki, the tenth and final avatar of the Hindu deity, Vishnu.  Aswatthama wants to protect her from harm, thus he follows the car of the 'rebels' who tried to help her escape from Yaskin.

The film continues with roaring energy as Yasmin's people spearhead to find SUM-80. to bring her back to Complex City. Director Nag Aswin directs the film with a continuous saga of action, gluing the audience to the screen and keeping the viewers wondering what is the next move. 

The production design of this film is awesome. The spaceships are unique the locations are artistic. The costumes of the soldiers and gadgets are exceptional. 

The script could have been edited into a more believable one. Roxie is supposed to be the girlfriend of Bhairava, but there is hardly any spark between them. 

Aswin made the audience feel Brairava is a good person but the audience is left to wonder. The purpose of his character is known only at the end, where he tries to bring back SUM-80 to Yasmin so he can get the bounty. Towards the end, Aswatthama who is supposedly very powerful, is locked with steel ropes and cannot get out of it whereas previously, nothing could beat him. 

One thing commendable is the acting of the mega stars, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Hassan, Deepika Padukone, and Prabhas. Their outstanding performances upgraded the movie and made it enigmatic. Bachchan's enigma is like a magic potion! His appearance on the even without a dialogue, 'says it all!'  

Kalki 2898 AD is one hundred eighty-one minutes, make sure to buy more popcorn.
